Marion Public Health’s communicable disease team works to prevent, detect, and respond to reports of communicable diseases and outbreaks within Marion County. The team conducts case investigations, contact tracing, and provides infection prevention control guidance to a variety of recipients including but not limited to patients, healthcare providers, health care facilities within Marion County.

Information for Medical Professionals and Healthcare Providers

Under the Ohio Revised Code, certain infectious diseases and conditions are required to be reported to local health departments within a specified time frame. Health care providers, laboratories, and other mandated reporters may reference the State of Ohio’s Quick Guide or Ohio’s Communicable Disease Reporting Requirements for reporting requirements and guidance.

 Call 740-387-6520 Monday through Friday 8 am-430 pm and state you are reporting a communicable disease. If after hours and reporting a Class A disease, call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 740-382-8244 and ask for the on-call Health Department staff member.
