Marion Public Health is extremely pleased to share some very good news! The Marion General Hospital Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors has named Marion Public Health as the recipient of the proceeds from the 19th Annual Golf Outing to be held September 11 at the Marion Country Club. With a true alignment of missions, we were pleased to learn of their support.
Marion Public Health will use the award to help launch our public health system shift toward population health management. In the proposed project, we will work with community partners, including Marion General Hospital, to identify and support newborns identified as being at higher risk for negative health outcomes. We will help to assess a variety of social and environmental circumstances experienced by those newborns. We will work to connect those families to the community resources that will help assure the infant is as healthy as it can be. Infant mortality in Ohio remains higher than the national average. Marion Public Health and our partners will work together to help our next generation get off to a healthier start.
In the process, we will also learn from these families about those barriers that impact their ability to access healthier options and make healthier decisions. We can use that information in our work to help our community create a culture of health through policy, systems, and environmental changes that support healthy decisions and ultimately create a healthier Marion.
