The Community Health Division of Marion Public Health works to improve health outcomes by facilitating community-wide change. Public health professionals have a responsibility to build relationships with residents and stakeholders to ensure initiatives are appropriate and tailored to those most impacted. This collaborative approach is rooted on eliminating barriers to health and deploying evidence-based solutions.

Additional activities of the Community Health Division include:
- Continuous monitoring of health status, as well as the coordination of the Community Health Assessment (CHA)
- Establishing collective health priorities, known as the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)
- Building local community capacity by engaging with residents and multi-sector partners
- Advancing health equity by creating, advocating, and implementing policies and plans
